Grass Tournament FAQ

All GAV Grass Tournaments will use the following format rules unless otherwise indicated on the event page or by the tournament director. 

Format

• Pool play with single elimination playoffs.
• Big court with side out scoring. Pools will switch to rally scoring if needed for time. TD will communicate this to players.
• 5, 6, & 7 team pools will play on two nets to speed up play.

Rules:

• No open hand fingertip passes on serves
• Hands must be in contact with each other
• Ball must pop off a hard surface of the hand.
• Block does not count as a touch.
• No directional blocking
• Poles are considered the antennas
• All net touches are considered a violation
• Open hand digs permitted if the ball is hard driven
• You must be square if setting the ball over

Additional Info:

• GAV does not have any volleyballs to borrow or for sale, so you will need to bring one!
